What is the Scan Time Optimiser in Accord Server?

We're noticing some lag in our OPC comms and I've been told to look at the scan time settings. Is there a tool to help with this?

The Scan Time Optimiser allows engineers to monitor and optimise the PLC scan time for a specific OPC profile by adjusting the number of items processed per scan. The tool shows a graph of scan time vs items per scan. Note: excessively long scan times may affect PLC interrupt processing for items such as pulse-based flowmeters.
