What is a Process Model in Accord?

I've heard the term Process Model used a lot in Accord but I'm still not clear on what it actually is and how it relates to the physical plant. Can someone clarify?

A Process Model is the configuration of data representing the Equipment (Units and Devices) and Programs contained in a Controller. It models the physical plant in software, enabling Accord Server and the PLC Library to execute control logic against the actual plant hardware.
